COULD YOUR EMERGENCY CALL SYSTEM BE OUTDATED?
Most homeowners don’t think about their lift’s emergency call system until someone needs it.
Your lift may operate normally even when its emergency communication system is outdated or no longer connecting correctly.
And some older home lifts may not have an emergency call system installed at all.
Older Technology
The system may rely on outdated or unsupported technology.
Network Changes
Mobile network changes will affect older emergency systems.
No Obvious Warning
The fault may go unnoticed while the lift continues to operate normally.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can Vestner upgrade a lift installed by another company?
Yes. Vestner services and upgrades lifts of different ages, brands and types. We’ll assess your lift and recommend the right solution.
What does the assessment include?
We check the call button, alarm, speaker, microphone, battery backup and communication connection.
How much does it cost?
Costs depend on your lift and existing communication system. We’ll provide clear pricing before any work begins.
Ongoing monitoring costs are approximately $15 per month.
Afterpay is available to spread the upfront cost.
Do I have to do anything, or does Vestner handle it all?
Vestner handles the entire upgrade: installing a home lift emergency phone communicator suited to current 5G networks, connecting it to a monitored call centre and testing it before we leave.
How long does the install take?
Installation and testing can generally be completed within half a day.
Do I need a Vestner service agreement?
No. The upgrade is available as a standalone service or with a Residential Lift Service Agreement for ongoing maintenance and support.
Will this affect my current service agreement with Vestner?
No. The GSM upgrade sits alongside your Vestner service agreement, and current contract clients receive priority response times. If you don’t have an agreement, we can explain the option at your assessment.
Does the system use 5G?
Vestner will recommend a system compatible with supported mobile network technology, based on your lift, location and network coverage.
Are Vestner products covered by a warranty?
Yes. All new Vestner lifts include a comprehensive 12-month warranty covering both the lift equipment and installation. We also include the first 12 months of scheduled servicing at no additional cost, providing added peace of mind after installation.
Can Vestner help with planning and design?
Yes. Vestner regularly works with architects, designers, builders, project managers and homeowners during the planning stages of a project. We can provide design advice, technical information, lift specifications and planning support to help ensure the right solution is selected from the outset.
What is the best lift for a new home?
The best lift depends on your available space, accessibility requirements, budget and design preferences. For many new homes, the Cibes A4000 and Cibes A5000 are popular choices due to their compact footprint, self-supporting design and architectural flexibility. Our team can help you determine the most suitable solution during a free assessment.
Can I customise the appearance of my lift?
Yes. Many of our lift models offer a wide range of customisation options including colours, finishes, glass, lighting and interior designs. This allows your lift to complement the style and architecture of your home or building.
How do I know if my lift has an emergency phone?
How do I know if my lift has an emergency phone?
Look for an emergency call button or phone inside your lift. If you can't find one, or you're not sure it works, give us a call on 0800 74 1000. We'll help you check.
Emergency Lift Phone Upgrade:
Terms and Conditions
- Complimentary check. The complimentary check covers your lift’s emergency phone and communication system only: the call button, alarm, speaker, microphone, battery backup and connection to a monitored call centre. It is not a full lift inspection, service or safety certification. One free check per lift. Available for residential lifts within Vestner’s service area. Check is conducted over the phone not in person.
- Testing your emergency phone safely. We recommend conducting the test with assistance from Vestner. If you choose to check your lift’s emergency phone yourself:
- Never test while the lift is moving, and don’t enter or deliberately stop the lift to carry out a test.
- Test from a landing where possible.
- Tell the operator straight away that this is a planned test.
- Ask the operator to confirm the phone number showing on their system.
NOTE: If the lift is a Schindler, the alarm and phone may not work with the doors open.
- Regular Testing. We recommend testing your lift phone at least every six months, or more frequently if required by the manufacturer or your service programme.
- Pricing. Installation and hardware costs depend on your lift and existing system. We’ll confirm pricing in writing before any work begins. There is no obligation to proceed.
- Monthly running cost. Ongoing monitoring and connection costs quoted are approximate only and can change at any time based on network provider pricing policies.
- Compatibility and coverage. The upgrade suits most, but not all, existing residential lifts. We’ll recommend a system based on your lift, location and mobile network coverage. The system relies on mobile network coverage and a third-party call centre, which Vestner does not control.
- Installation time. Most installations are completed within half a day. This is a guide only and may vary depending on your lift and site.
- Bundle offer. Save $150 off Vestner’s installation price for the Emergency Phone Safety Upgrade when you enter a new eligible 24-month/2 year Residential Lift Service Agreement by 24 December 2026. One offer per lift. Eligibility, service area and agreement terms apply.
- Service agreement inclusions. Scheduled lift-phone testing and eligible emergency call-outs are included under selected Vestner Residential Lift Service Agreements, subject to the agreement terms. Call-outs outside the agreement’s scope may be charged.
- Priority response. Priority response times for current service agreement clients apply as set out in their agreement.
- Afterpay. Afterpay is subject to approval and Afterpay’s own terms.
- GST. All prices include GST.
